With so many brands of CBD, and thousands of websites jostling for your attention, it can difficult to choose the right dose for your body.
We’ve seen brands from Europe, the UK, America and more, all of whom offer a wide array of strengths. There are high strength and low strength and everything in between, not to mention all the varieties of CBD extracts, CBD paste and CBD Edibles!
One of the questions we get a lot from our customers is where to start. And it’s a great question!
So before we learn about how to start taking CBD, we should probably clear one very important thing up first;
Not all cannabis has CBD in it, in fact most illegal strains have none.
We see it all the time in the shop. People think that because they’ve smoked weed that they must have a higher tolerance.
That may be true for THC, but it isn’t the same for CBD.
Trust us, we have seen thousands of customers and the people who get the best health results are the people who follow the golden rule;
Start Low and Go Slow
It sounds too good to be true, but you don’t have to take high strength CBD to get great results. In fact, it is better to take small quantities of CBD and build up your dose as you go. Everybody is different, so its up to you to figure out what feels comfortable. By starting low and going slow, you save money and increase your chances of achieveing the healthcare outcome that you are looking for!
Imagine going to the gym for the first time; you want to work out and improve your fitness, so do you start by lifting the heaviest weight in the building? No! You need to build up to that! Learn how your endocannabinoid system works by slowly feeding it healthy CBD oil!
Patience is important. As you take your CBD everyday, your endocannabinoid system starts to click into gear, and gradually starts to promote homeostasis throughout your body. The process is as important as the product, so take your time and enjoy the experience!
You may start at a low strength oil, but a super potent CBD oil won’t necessarily work any faster, and in our experience people who rush in tend to spend more than they need to and get less benefit in the long run.
Little and Often is the key
If you are taking CBD for the first time, the best advice we can give is to take a little at a time, but take it every day. A bit like toothpaste, it is best to use CBD daily as part of your personal care routine. And yes, we do mean every day, the same as sunlight or sleep, we should be consuming cannabinoids as part of our day.
It can take a few weeks before you start to notice your dose, that’s totally normal! The secret ingredient is TIME!
2 weeks, 2 months, 2 years! Keep going! You are in control and can take CBD for as long as you wish!
After a few bottles you’ll be an old hand. Maybe you’ll open your own hemp shop to share your experience!
By taking a high quality CBD oil regularly, your endocannabinoid system will gradually improve its function, making you a happier, healthier human!
What strength is best?
Remember; just because the oil is a lower strength does not mean it isn’t doing anything! Some people stick on the starter dose for months, and some of our regular customers have stayed with 250mg strength for years now!
Start with 1-2 drops of oil under your tongue, 2-3 times a day. Over the first few weeks gradually increase the number of drops you take until you find the sweet spot. It takes a little practice, and a little patience, but we are here to be your pal on the journey.
Everybody is different, and it can take a little practice to find what works for you, but after a few weeks you’ll get the hang of it!
